Practice Creating a Rubric

Take a few moments to think about what the following paper topic (from an intro-level “Greek Civilization” course) is asking for. Use the worksheet provided to begin creating a rubric.

Paper Topic:

From any of the works assigned from Week 5 onward in the course, select a passage that you found particularly memorable and meaningful. Justify your choice by analyzing the artistry and argument of the passage and by discussing such questions as how the passage fits into the work as a whole, how it is characteristic or uncharacteristic of its author or genre or the tradition of Greek culture. The length of the passage you select should be at least half a page of prose or about 30 lines of verse, but may of course be longer.
