Grant Programs
The GSI Teaching & Resource Center offers grants to GSIs who wish to introduce learning activities or projects into their sections that require modest financial assistance. We also offer grants to departments for their preparation of GSIs for teaching on the UC Berkeley campus.
Course Improvement Grants for GSI-Led Sections
The Course Improvement Grants program aims to provide modest funds (up to $300) for projects that will enhance student learning and increase a GSI’s teaching effectiveness. The intention of the program is to make available to all students in your section or course the opportunity to participate in the project.
Any UC Berkeley GSI teaching a section or course during the current academic year or summer session is eligible to apply. GSIs may receive no more than one grant per semester.
Grants to Support Departmental GSI Programs
GSI Departmental Grants are available to provide support for departmental programs that prepare GSIs for teaching. Grants are typically used to establish or enhance 300-level pedagogy seminars, to support a video consultation program for GSI teaching development, to undertake a comprehensive revision of GSI-led sections in large-enrollment courses, or to prepare or revise handbooks, websites, or other pedagogical materials used in working with GSIs.
