300-Level Courses

In accordance with the Graduate Council’s Policy on Appointments and Mentoring of GSIs, all first-time GSIs must either have completed or be enrolled in a 300-level semester-long pedagogy seminar on teaching in the discipline offered by the department. In those departments in which a low number of GSIs makes it infeasible to offer such a course, the pedagogy seminar should be taken in another department, with the advice and approval of the GSI’s department and with the consent of the course instructor.

Please contact the Faculty Adviser for GSI Affairs in your department if you have questions about the course you should be taking.

The GSI Teaching and Resource Center publishes a list of courses whose instructors have stated that they are willing to consider admitting GSIs from outside their departments. We update this list as further course information becomes available; please note that there may be other courses offered that are open to outside GSIs but whose information has not yet been provided to us.
