Fall 2026: Thursday, August 20 (International GSIs) & Friday, August 21 (all GSIs)
The Fall Teaching Conference is held the Thursday and Friday before classes begin. Its purpose is to orient graduate students to their GSI role and equip them to begin teaching. All international first-time GSIs must attend on Thursday; all first-time GSIs, international and domestic, must attend on Friday. The Fall 2026 Teaching Conference runs August 20 and 21, 2026.
To be credited with completion, attendees must participate in the entire conference day. Online pre-registration is required using this Fall 2026 Conference Registration form. (Please note: upon completion of this form, you will be registered for all three Conference requirements)

Please note that in addition to the Teaching Conference, general first-time GSI requirements include:
- GSI Professional Standards and Ethics Online Course
5 modules with quizzes offered through a dedicated bCourses site (~5+ hours to complete) to be completed prior to interacting with students (online or in person) in your role as instructor. Self-enroll in the 2025-2026 Ethics course - Departmental Pedagogy Course
A 300-level semester-long pedagogy seminar on teaching in the discipline offered by the GSI’s department to be completed prior to or concurrent with first GSI appointment. Questions? Please check with your department.
