WORKSHOPS

See this semester's workshop calendar.

Pedagogical workshops focus on teaching issues of particular interest to GSIs and are offered 5-6 times throughout the semester. Recent workshop topics have included: leading effective discussion sections, grading, developing a statement of teaching philosophy, instructional uses of technology, teaching and the academic job search, and preparing and giving a lecture. See our calendar for a recent schedule.

Teaching Portfolio Workshop Series - A four-part workshop series, offered periodicially, in which graduate students work collaboratively over the course of the semester on various activities that will both enhance teaching and learning and lead to the development of a teaching portfolio.

Workshops for Faculty on Teaching with GSIs - This workshop series is designed to assist faculty in their mentorship of GSIs. Facilitated by faculty and GSIs, these workshops address such topics as how to conduct a classroom observation, assisting GSIs in developing a teaching portfolio, and effective grading.
