Seminars
The GSI Teaching and Resource Center offers annual seminars on faculty teaching and university education. Recent seminars include the following:
Course Grading Policies and Student Motivation: The overall purpose of the seminar was 1) to explore the impact of course grading and grading policies on student motivation to learn; 2) to examine critically grading strategies designed to evaluate student course performance on the Berkeley campus and beyond in a variety of course settings and disciplinary contexts; 3) to consider the role of GSIs in the process of student evaluation, including the challenges presented by this responsibility and the impact of this experience on a GSI's sense of professional development and career preparation. The GSI Teaching and Resource Center collaborated on this workshop with Martin Covington, Professor of Psychology and Presidential Chair in Undergraduate Education.
Integrating Research Into Classroom Teaching: The GSI Teaching and Resource Center, in collaboration with Professor Martin Covington, initiated a working group on ways to integrate research into classroom teaching.
