How
to sign up for the GSI Professional Standards & Ethics course
*
Please print out these instructions and read them carefully
before beginning the enrollment process.
Go
to: http://coursesites.blackboard.com.
Create an account by clicking the ‘create' button found on the
home page.

Fill
in your name as registered with the University, your Student
ID number, and your UC Berkeley email address.
Important:
On the Blackboard CourseSites account creation page, only First
Name and Last Name are marked with asterisks as required fields
in the Personal Information section. In order for us to approve
your enrollment request and verify your quiz grades, you must
also include your UC Berkeley email address and UC Berkeley
Student ID number when creating your Blackboard CourseSites
account.
Choose a username and password that you will remember
easily.
Once
you have completed the CourseSites account, you can then log
in. After you are logged in, request enrollment for the online
ethics course by following these directions:
Click
on the Courses tab at the top right of the
screen.
Next,
find the course. There are two ways to do this:
- In
the Course Search box, type in ‘ethics'.
Look at the list and find the course with ID number gsi300s_og.
- Or,
click Browse Course Catalog, found at the
bottom of the list on the right. On the next page, from the
dropdown box, choose Course ID, type in gsi300s_og, and click
on "go."
(see below).

Click
the Enroll button on the right to send a request
for enrollment.
After you submit your
request to enroll, you may see the following message:
Access Denied
Access to this resource is prohibited.
This does not indicate a problem with your registration request.
Instead, the Blackboard program has automatically taken you
to the online ethics course, and you are not allowed to log
in until we have approved your request (on weekdays, normally
within a few hours, if not sooner; longer on weekends). When
your request has been processed, you will be able to access
all the course material.
After
you receive authentication, you will be ready to begin the course.
It is best to allow enough time to finish one complete module
in a single sitting. One module should take about 45 minutes.
There are five modules.
If
you are a first-time GSI this semester, you must successfully
complete the course by the end of the third week of classes.
Because information in the course will be useful to you on the
first day of class, we strongly recommend that you take the
course before classes begin.
